New CAA investigation exposes NHS staff claiming Zionists control the world and Hamas as resistance

Translate

Five National Health Service staff members, including three doctors, have been identified in a new investigation by the Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA) revealing that they have shared social media posts including claims that Zionists control the world, calling Hamas terrorists “the resistance,” and asserting that Benjamin Netanyahu needs to be dead. The findings were revealed in a report published by the Daily Mail on Saturday.

This investigation follows a documentary released by CAA last month titled 'Malignant: Anti-Semitism in the NHS,' which featured interviews with British-Jewish patients and workers recounting alleged antisemitic abuse at UK hospitals.

Among those named in the investigation is Fatimah Mohamied, a registered midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Council who was appointed as a “cultural safety champion” at West Middlesex Hospital in London in a post established to address systemic racism and inequality.

Mohamied responded with enthusiasm to social media content celebrating the October 7 attacks by writing 'Hell yeah!!!' in reaction to a post by Jackie Walker, a former Labour Party member who was previously suspended and expelled from the party amid allegations of antisemitism in 2016. Walker's original post claimed that “Palestinians have a right to resist their occupation- we have a right to support them. It's that simple.”

Mohamied faced claims of antisemitism when she accused the Midwifery Forum of "hosting Zionists," writing in a deleted blog in January 2025, “The problem lies in using Jewish cultural safety as a smokescreen to propagate colonialism, occupation, apartheid, and genocide as somehow acceptable. The problem here is the Zionist speakers you hold no qualm or shame to platform. There is no neutrality in degradation, there is no balance in ignoring opposition to Zionists, there is no innocence in hosting Zionists.”

After her line manager reportedly asked her to consider deleting the posts, she refused and resigned in March 2024 before the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the Metropolitan Police referred her under Prevent. Both referrals were dismissed, and her ongoing claim against her former employer continues.

NHS doctor accused of spreading antisemitic conspiracy theories

Another individual highlighted in the investigation is Dr. Mohamed Abdelaal Ragheb Elfarra, a General Practitioner in the Accident and Emergency Department at St James's University Hospital in Leeds, which is part of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

In a video from April 1, 2025, Dr. Elfarra told a crowd during a protest that “Zionists control the media. Zionists control the world' and stated that what Israel is doing in Gaza is 'extermination.”

On social media, he posted a graphic in October 2023 showing Benjamin Netanyahu wearing a bloodied apron and holding a knife over a child in a hospital bed, which the CAA noted to the Daily Mail echoed blood libel tropes.

He also shared posts claiming the Rothschild family controls all the world's money, stating “Elon Musk is controlled by Zionists,” and writing in April 2024 that “Zionists are the new Nazis of the last 100 years.”

A spokesperson for Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust said, “We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where all colleagues feel safe, respected, and supported. The Trust has policies and procedures for appropriate staff conduct and all allegations are investigated.”

NHS occupational therapist accused of sharing violent anti-Israel rhetoric

The investigation also identified occupational therapist Zaida Parveen Akhtar, who also works as a make-up artist and is known as Zee Zidane on Facebook. Akhtar was nominated for a Values in Practice Award by Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and works for University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.

Akhtar shared a video in July 2025 concerning Bibi Netanyahu’s son, Avner Netanyahu, stating “If you do see that face [...] Roadman, you know what to do. Sort out this waste” and telling her followers to “get your jutiya off” – employing  a Punjabi word meaning slipper or shoe, in an apparent reference calling for a beating, while also referring to him as the “son of the devil.” Akhtar reposted an image in September 2025 from former Irish MEP Mick Wallace featuring a US delegate with devil horns and blood around her mouth performing a Nazi salute alongside claims about a 'Genocidal Zionist Settler Colonial Project.' In December 2025, she reposted a conspiracy theory video describing the Bondi Beach mass shooting as a 'false flag' event.

Manchester-based registered psychiatrist Dr. Ahmed Sewehli, a member of Healthworkers for Palestine, was also named in the exposé after commenting in November 2024 that “Netanyahu should be dead and then they wouldn't have had to issue an arrest warrant for him either,” and replying to another social media post by Netanyahu in April 2025 with “You need to be dead.”

Sewehli also wrote that “Zionism is the ideology of terror, mass murder, displacement and depravity” and claimed that ISIS was learning new acts of depravity from the IDF.

NHS doctor suspended following complaints over social media posts

British-Jordanian A&E medic Dr. Nadeem Crowe was identified in the investigation after posting in July 2025 that there was “no doubt Israel is a terrorist octopus with its head in Israel and tentacles far reaching into every continent,” and writing in March 2025 that “Zionism is an insidious evil that IS controlling every single one of us, internationally. There is an international "importance" relating to "Israel" that isn't yet clear to the layman but that means there is no option but to let it destroy all of us. I think the world knows that if anyone takes any other stance it will result in Armageddon and that is a completely terrifying reality. I tend to believe most people are inherently good but that there is a threat so powerful that even good has become evil.”

Dr. Crowe was suspended mid-shift from the Royal Free Hospital in August 2024 after colleagues complained about his online activity, and he is currently awaiting the outcome of a tribunal after alleging discrimination and harassment by the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. A Royal Free London spokesperson stated they cannot comment on ongoing legal cases and focus on ensuring staff and patients feel safe.

A Royal Free London spokesperson said, "We cannot comment on ongoing legal cases.  Our focus is always to ensure that our staff, and everybody in our care, feel safe and are treated equally, regardless of background or belief.”

NHS pledges zero tolerance as CAA demands action against antisemitism

CAA said the findings underscore an ongoing issue in public medical institutions. Stephen Silverman, director of investigations and enforcement at the CAA, said, “Our documentary on antisemitism in the NHS revealed how extremism is becoming rife in medicine, with employers and regulators failing to rein in radicalized doctors and nurses.”

“These are yet more examples of the hate in healthcare that the authorities are doing nothing about. What is happening in British medicine is a national disgrace. Jewish people may be feeling the effects most keenly, but nobody wants to be treated by unhinged extremists. It’s past time that the authorities address the crisis,” Silverman said.

A Department for Health and Social Care spokesperson said: "We commissioned Lord Mann's review to root out the cancer of antisemitism and other forms of racism from our health service. As well as the NHS implementing all of Lord Mann's recommendations, we expect professional regulators to take the strongest possible action in individual cases wherever necessary."

An NHS England spokesperson said, “Any form of antisemitism and racism in the NHS is wholly unacceptable, and all local organizations must take a zero-tolerance approach, including police involvement and criminal prosecution where appropriate.”

“The NHS is implementing all recommendations from Lord Mann’s review to tackle antisemitism and other forms of racism in the NHS, including mandatory antisemitism training for all staff and strengthening accountability for senior leaders – and performance against new national standards will be reported and assessed,” the NHS England spokesperson said.

A General Medical Council (GMC) spokesperson said, “We are very clear that antisemitism is completely unacceptable. Doctors and patients should be confident that if they raise a concern with the GMC, it will be dealt with appropriately. We can and will investigate serious concerns that suggest patient safety or the public’s confidence in doctors may be at risk.”

A spokesperson for Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust said in a statement to the Jerusalem Post, “The deeply concerning social media content brought to our attention is wholly inconsistent with our values and the standards we expect. We condemn antisemitism and all forms of hatred, discrimination and abuse.”

“The Trust is committed to fostering an inclusive, equitable and respectful environment for our staff, patients and communities. We have clear standards of conduct and expectations concerning the use of social media, that reflect our Trust values and our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. We take any concerns that may be inconsistent with those standards seriously and consider them through the appropriate processes. As a matter of policy, we do not comment on individual employment matters,” the spokesperson said, adding that “We recognize the distress that content of this nature can cause, and support is available for any member of staff affected.”
