JPJ denies fake news on Rohingya driving licences, files MCMC report

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 24 — The Road Transport Department (JPJ) today denied a statement published on the ‘Along Auto Parts’ Facebook account, titled “JPJ Proposes Allowing Rohingyas to Obtain Driving Licenses?” which was allegedly posted in the form of an official news report.

Consequently, JPJ has lodged a report with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to enable an investigation and appropriate action regarding the dissemination of the content.

“JPJ takes a serious view of any party producing, modifying, or disseminating content that uses the department’s name, identity, or image in a way that could mislead the public and undermine JPJ’s credibility,” the department said in a Facebook post today.

The public is advised not to spread information of unverified authenticity and to always refer to official JPJ channels for accurate and verified information.

A check of the ‘Along Auto Parts’ Facebook page revealed that the post, uploaded 12 hours ago, had not yet been deleted as of 9:15 am today, garnering over 1,800 comments and 325 shares. — Bernama
