Kwam 1 hands daughter to Lagos deputy governor for Assembly ambition (VIDEO)

Fuji musician Wasiu “Kwam 1” Ayinde has sought the support of Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat for his daughter, Damilola Ayinde-Marshall, who hopes to secure a seat in the state House of Assembly in 2027.
Damilola is contesting for Surulere Constituency II under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming general elections.
Kwam 1 made the appeal when Mr Hamzat, the APC’s governorship candidate in the state, attended a programme organised by the Muhtadeen Islamic Foundation (MIFO) on Sunday.
MIFO is a group of young-at-heart Muslims committed to promoting Islam as a religion of peace and correcting misconceptions about the faith.
In a video posted on his Instagram page that gained traction online on Monday, Kwam 1 handed his daughter over to the deputy governor, apparently seeking his backing for her political ambition.
Mr Hamzat laughed and gestured toward Damilola’s seat. The lawyer, meanwhile, appeared amused by her father’s public show of support.
“We’ll dance”
Welcoming Mr Hamzat, the 69-year-old thanked him for the honour and expressed confidence that he would win the state’s forthcoming governorship election.
The musician also predicted that President Bola Tinubu would secure a second term in office.
He said members of MIFO and state residents, alongside Nigerians worldwide, would celebrate the victories of both Mr Hamzat and Mr Tinubu.
“Obafemi Hamzat, our deputy governor today and the incoming governor, by January and February, we will dance a lot of victory dances. We will dance over the deputy governor who will become governor.
“We will dance over Nigeria and the Yoruba people across the world, and over our father, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who will serve a second term, so that there can be peace and prosperity for this country. That is how it will be, by God’s grace”, he said.
Why Hamzat as governor?
Additionally, Kwam 1 said Mr Hamzat was reaping the benefits of his service as a member of former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola’s entourage, as well as his contributions to MIFO.
He added that MIFO members were delighted to welcome Mr Hamzat, noting that the forum had laid the groundwork for his governorship ambition 13 years ago.
“We have been struggling for him because I remember the covenant we made with God. Openly, 13 years ago, when we were on this same journey, everyone in this environment will bear me witness.
“Our excellency (Babatunde Fashola) at that time, who is a member of MIFO and has stood firm since we established MIFO, made us proud with his presence and everything he did to keep MIFO standing, and we supported him”, he added.
He said Mr Hamzat threw his weight behind Mr Fashola when the latter expressed his intention to become governor, doing everything within his power to support his bid.
“When he expressed interest in contesting for governor, we prayed for him. He came to this area and made several promises, and among his entourage that year was Dr Obafemi Hamzat. I stood beside Hamzat while our excellency, Babatunde Fashola, stood at the front.
“Because of Hamzat’s efforts that day to ensure Fashola emerged as governor, I held Hamzat’s hand and told him that he would also become governor of Lagos State. Since then, we have been on the journey toward his becoming governor.”
