PUTRAJAYA, Nov 6 — Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has yet to return home after leaving Kajang Prison today, as he was taken to a dental clinic for a scheduled examination, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook said.

Loke, who earlier announced his resignation as transport minister, said he received the information from Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

“The Home Minister had informed me that Najib had not yet been allowed to return home.

“I was told that Najib had been taken to a dental clinic for an examination as scheduled,” he said.

Earlier today, the Kuala Lumpur High Court issued an Order of Discharge on Payment of Fine after Najib settled the RM50 million fine imposed in the SRC International Sdn Bhd case, with the order stating that the remainder of his sentence should be served under house arrest.

The fine was paid using funds raised by the Najib Razak Solidarity Fund, which was launched by Umno on September 18 and had successfully reached its collection target.

Najib, 73, has been serving his sentence at Kajang Prison since August 23, 2022, after the Federal Court upheld his conviction for misappropriating RM42 million belonging to SRC International.

He was initially sentenced to 12 years in prison and fined RM210 million.

However, the Federal Territories Pardons Board reduced his sentence in January 2024 to six years’ imprisonment and a RM50 million fine.

On September 18, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim granted Najib a conditional pardon, allowing him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest until August 23, 2028, subject to the stipulated conditions.
