Translate

BAGUIO CITY — No crime incidents were recorded in cemeteries, columbaria and memorial parks across the Cordillera during the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, the Cordillera police reported.

In a statement following the Tuesday (Nov. 3) flag-raising ceremony at Camp Dangwa, Police Brig. Gen. Noel B. Vallo, Cordillera police director, said the highland provinces of Ifugao, Abra, Apayao, Kalinga, Benguet and Mountain Province and the City of Baguio maintained a generally peaceful and orderly situation despite the influx of visitors, tourists and families during the holiday weekend.

Police monitoring also found no activities or plans by threat groups that could compromise regional security. However, several violations of restrictions in designated areas were recorded and addressed during security inspections.

Police confiscated two improvised noisemakers, commonly known as “boga,” in Baguio City. Another 412 assorted items were voluntarily surrendered or deposited with police personnel during the observance.

These included 222 cigarette or vape products, 91 bladed or pointed weapons, 79 gardening tools, eight alcoholic drinks, five sound systems or speakers, four chemical containers, one set of playing cards, one cooking material and one flammable substance.

Traffic conditions across the region remained generally manageable, although slight congestion was observed near cemeteries due to the number of visitors. Police personnel were deployed to manage traffic and assist motorists. INQ
