UK ticket holder comes forward to claim ‘life-changing’ £111m EuroMillions jackpot

A UK ticket-holder has come forward to claim a £111,709,000 EuroMillions jackpot.

The player matched all five main numbers – 11, 12, 15, 38, 49 – as well as Lucky Stars 10 and 12 in Friday’s draw.

National Lottery operator Allwyn said the win is the equal 14th largest prize ever secured in the UK. It is also the 21st time a payout of £100 million or more has been won domestically.

Andy Carter, Allwyn’s senior winners’ adviser, said: "Huge congratulations to our latest massive winner. We have plenty of experience in supporting winners of these colossal jackpots and will be on hand as they start on their life-changing journey."

This latest winner is the fourth UK player to claim a EuroMillions jackpot this year. In March, one ticket secured £181 million – the third-largest in UK history – before two UK winners shared a £125 million jackpot with a French player in April.

The UK record stands at £195.7 million, which was won in July 2022 by a ticket-holder who chose to remain anonymous.

In the UK, every EuroMillions entry automatically includes a unique "UK Millionaire Maker" code, entering you into an additional draw with a guaranteed £1 million winner in every draw.

Tuesday’s jackpot is now an estimated £14 million.

Some of the biggest lottery winnings in the UK include Joe and Jess Thwaite, from Gloucester, who scooped £184,262,899 with a Lucky Dip ticket for the draw on May 10 2022.

Colin and Chris Weir, from Largs, North Ayrshire, won £161,653,000 on July 12 2011, making them the biggest UK winners at the time.

Colin used £2.5 million of his fortune to invest in his beloved Partick Thistle Football Club, which led to one of the stands at the stadium being named after him.

He later acquired a 55 per cent shareholding in the club, which was to be passed into the hands of the local community upon his death. He died in December 2019, aged 71.

The couple also set up the Weir Charitable Trust in 2013 and donated £1 million to the Scottish independence referendum in 2014. They divorced in the same year of Colin’s death.
