A hanging bridge in Maguindanao del Sur collapsed early Sunday as floodwaters surged along the Pulangi River.

According to a report by stringer Garry Fuerzas, the bridge in Barangay Talitay, Datu Montawal, was destroyed in the early morning of October 18, 2026.

The collapse disrupted residents’ access to the town proper, making it difficult for them to cross the river.

The bridge had been used by residents in recent days as floodwaters continued to rise, the report said.

Residents who still needed to be evacuated were rescued by the Datu Montawal Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office using rubber boats. — MCG, GMA News
