Magnitude 4.4 earthquake recorded in Leyte

A magnitude 4.4 earthquake struck Leyte on Thursday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

The earthquake occurred at 3:59 p.m. at a depth of 10 kilometers. Its epicenter was located 8 kilometers southeast of Leyte town, Leyte.

PHIVOLCS recorded the following instrumental intensities:

  • Intensity III — Kananga and Villaba, Leyte
  • Intensity II — Alangalang and Ormoc City, Leyte
  • Intensity I — San Jorge and Villareal, Samar
