KUALA NERUS: A 16-year-old boy was killed and three others injured in a crash involving three motorcycles in Jalan Sungai Buaya, Kampung Batin, Seberang Takir.

The victim was identified as Ahmad Areesy Zafreen Ahmad Azhar, a Form Four student at a secondary school here.

The three injured were his 12-year-old sister, who is a person with disabilities, a 57-year-old woman and an 18-year-old youth.

Kuala Terengganu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Azli Mohd Noor said the crash at 5.10pm involved a Modenas Kriss ridden by Ahmad Areesy Zafreen, a Honda EX5 ridden by the 18-year-old youth and a Honda NSC ridden by the woman.

"Initial investigations found that the motorcycle ridden by the victim from Kampung Batin towards Seberang Takir was believed to have overtaken another vehicle before colliding with the Honda EX5 travelling in the opposite direction.

"Following the crash, the Honda EX5 was then hit by the Honda NSC ridden by the woman travelling in the same direction," he said in a statement tonight.

Azli said the victim's sister, who was riding pillion, was injured and is receiving treatment at Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital.

"The youth and woman were also injured and are receiving treatment at the same hospital," he said.

He said the victim's body was sent to the HSNZ Forensic Unit for a post-mortem.

"The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.
