Kaizer Chiefs Ladies signed off in style in their maiden season of the 2026 Gauteng Women’s Provincial League.

Amakhosikazi showed competitiveness all round as they finished third on the log with 70 points from 28 league games.

They recorded a whopping 22 wins, four draws and lost just twice throughout the campaign. Chiefs scored 69 goals and conceded just 16.

Coach Unathi Mabena’s charges finished behind Wits University FC (second with 72 points) and leaders Mamelodi Sundowns (73 points).

Mabena expressed delight at the foundation laid by the team this past season although they could not secure a place in the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Mabena also had a personal achievement to celebrate last season as she acquired her CAF A Diploma.

KAIZER CHIEFS LADIES FINISH THIRD IN MAIDEN SEASON

“The players have given a lot of themselves this season, and I am proud of the commitment and determination they have shown,” Mabena told the Amakhosi website.

“Starting a new team comes with its challenges, but they have continued to work hard, learn and grow together. There is a lot we can take from this campaign, and we have a good foundation to build on.

“Football is a collective effort, and I would like to thank the Club’s management for the support they have given us,” she continued.

“I am equally grateful to my technical team for their dedication and the work they have put in behind the scenes to prepare the players and help them improve. Everyone has played a part in getting us to this point.

“We know there is still work to do, but we have learned a lot this season. The important thing is to take those lessons forward and remain ambitious,” concluded Mabena.
