Emmerdale star says final goodbye to soap after 8 years in emotional post

Former Emmerdale star Olivia Bromley has paid a heartfelt tribute to her character Dawn Fletcher, who met a tragic end in blockbuster scenes last month. The actor joined the soap back in 2018, but was killed off on what was supposed to be her character's wedding day.

Chaos unfolded when a car driven by Jimmy King - who also died in the tragic incident - crashed through the marquee, after having been run off the road by distracted driver Vinny Dingle.

Now, in the aftermath of Dawn's funeral, Bromley has taken to Instagram to share a collection of photos from her time on the show, captioning it: "8 years of a lovely job [heart emoji]."

She added: "This is an absurdly late post, but I have been so blown away by all the lovely messages about Dawn's exit and it has meant so much! So thank you. And to Teresa who simply messaged 'You're dead, get over it' - I KNOW OKAY."

Commenting on the post, co-star Andrew Scarborough - who plays Graham Foster - said she was "very much missed" on the set, while Eden Taylor-Draper (Belle Dingle) called her "the best".

Co-star and current Strictly Come Dancing competitor Lawrence Robb (Mackenzie Boyd) left her a string of heart emojis, while Bradley Riches (Lewis Barton) simply said: "WE LOVE U".

Viewers piled on the praise too, with one writing: "So sorry you've gone… loved your fantastic acting… you, Joe and Billy were amazing. Just hope you get some amazing future roles because I'll be riveted."

The fallout from the wedding has been continuing on-screen this week, with Vinny finally arrested and charged by the police for causing death by dangerous driving.

He accepted his fate after being hospitalised by a vengeful Billy Fletcher, who had two children with Dawn before she became engaged to Joe Tate.

For his part, Joe has been keen to avenge his fiancée's death, but now that Vinny faces a serious custodial sentence, what more could he have in store?
