Sources: Warriors, Curry reach 2-year extension worth $116 million

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has agreed on a two-year, $116 million contract extension with the franchise, with a player option in 2028-29, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.

On Aug. 29, Curry became eligible for an extension of up to two years and $136.7 million off his current one-year, $62.6 million expiring deal. The Warriors immediately presented him with a menu of options, team sources told ESPN, including max money, slightly smaller pay cuts or the ability to wait and decide later, depending on what the front office could eventually generate with extra flexibility.

Curry had contemplated the choices for nearly a month before reaching an agreement with the Warriors.

The team begins practice next week in Hawaii and opens the regular season on Oct. 21 in Los Angeles against the Lakers.
