Electricity disruptions in Cape Town’s Deep South now scheduled for 10, 11 October

Translate

Residents across large parts of Cape Town’s Southern and Far South suburbs are being warned of planned electricity interruptions next weekend.

The City of Cape Town says critical infrastructure upgrades will take place from 20:00 on Saturday, 10 October, until 06:00 on Sunday, 11 October 2026, if all goes according to plan.

The work combines an earlier planned outage affecting Muizenberg, Clovelly, Sun Valley and surrounding areas. That work was postponed from 19 September and incorporated into the October maintenance programme.

Electricity upgrades affect large parts of the Deep South

The City says the scale and complexity of the work means some listed areas may not actually experience an outage.

It also warns that areas not included on the list could experience interruptions.

“The electricity supply could be restored at any time,” the City said, warning residents to treat electrical installations as live throughout the period of maintenance work.

Residents are encouraged to switch off appliances before the outage as a precaution against possible power surges when electricity returns.

“The City apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks residents for their understanding.”
