LUCENA CITY — A 42-year-old truck helper died while the driver was injured when their vehicle collided with an Isuzu refrigerated van on Wednesday night in Atimonan, Quezon.

The truck was negotiating a descending, curved section of the diversion road in Barangay Malinao Ilaya at 8:15 p.m. when the driver reportedly lost control due to the wet, slippery road, the Quezon police said in a report on Thursday.

The wayward truck overshot the curve and collided with the oncoming refrigerated van, police said.

The truck driver and his helper sustained serious injuries in the collision. They were rushed to Doña Marta Memorial District Hospital in the town proper for medical treatment, but the helper was declared dead on arrival. /coa
