More than 1.3 million people visited the Manila North Cemetery on Sunday, November 1, amid the observance of Undas 2026, its director said on Monday.

Tan said the cemetery did not record any major untoward incidents during the influx of visitors.

There were reports of children getting separated from their companions but they were immediately located with the help of the cemetery's paging system.

Tan said fewer visitors are expected on Monday, November 2, as only a small number of people were still entering the cemetery as of the interview.

Cemetery inspectors continued to confiscate prohibited items brought by visitors, mostly paint, spatula, and cleaning equipment.

Tan said there were no reported incidents of visitors attempting to sneak in alcoholic beverages disguised as ordinary drinks.

Meanwhile, Tan said that the cemetery's free ride service had already ended on October 31.

November 1 (All Saints' Day) and November 2 (All Souls' Day) were earlier declared as special non-working days to allow people to visit the tombs of their departed loved ones as part of tradition. —KG, GMA News
