Nicola Coughlan’s ‘I Am Helen’ Trailer Shows Dark Side Of Modern Relationships As Toxic Masculinity Takes Its Toll

Translate

These are the words delivered to Joe Cole‘s character Steve by a masculine confidante in the trail for Nicola Coughlan and Dominic Savage‘s new Channel 4 show I Am Helen.

The show is the latest in Savage’s I Am… anthology telling female stories, which won Kate Winslet a BAFTA for I Am Ruth. This one tackles the hot-button topic of toxic masculinity, which we revealed earlier this year. Coughlan constructed the two-parter with Savage and Cole is her co-star.

Told through a female lens, the story examines the pressures and expectations placed on women while confronting the realities of toxic masculinity and the damage it can create in modern relationships. Watch trail above.

I Am Helen comes after high-profile shows about the manosphere like Netflix’s Adolescence and Louis Theroux’s Inside the Manosphere.

Previous I Am… instalments tackling the major issues of the day have featured the likes of Letitia Wright, Samantha Morton and Gemma Chan.

Me+ You Productions is behind I Am Helen. The series is produced by Krishnendu Majumdar and Savage. I Am is co-funded by Sky Studios and international sales are handled by NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution.
