The upcoming sequel to a 2010s Steven Spielberg action classic returns one creator back to his strongest skillset, which paints a promising picture for what's to come next for one film series' next chapter. Spielberg's name and work is synonymous with cinema itself, thanks to his extensive career working on the likes of Jaws, Jurassic Park, and the Indiana Jones movies making him one of the biggest names to ever sit in the director's chair.
While Steven Spielberg's filmography and talents speak for themselves, a notable part of his success in the world of film has also been his collaborations with a range of other major figures in the world of film, and his willingness to work as a team both in the obvious ways filmmaking requires, and when it comes to building more long-term collaborative bonds, including the likes of editor Michael Hahn, and cinematographer Janusz Kamiński.
As such, it may come as no surprise that Spielberg has passed the proverbial torch on to one of the filmmakers he's worked with in the past, with said other director helming the sequel to a Spielberg action adventure movie. Indeed, this is an exciting prospect for a few reasons, as said director is perhaps the best possible choice to take on the next leg of the film series in question's story.
Peter Jackson's Next Movie Is Perfectly Primed To Show Off His Best Skills
While Peter Jackson's last movie where he served as a director was back in 2014 with The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies, the creative is set to return in fine directorial form to direct the sequel to 2011's The Adventures Of Tintin, following his work on the 2011 Tintin film as a producer previously.
With Peter Jackson's last major role in the world of film being that of his work writing and acting in 2018's Mortal Engines - unless you count the limited film showings of Peter Jackson's The Beatles: Get Back miniseries in theatres - Jackson returning to the film landscape in any capacity is exciting to say the least.
However, it's all the more exciting to note that Peter Jackson intends to direct The Adventures Of Tintin's sequel - and that work is set to be underway on filming sooner rather than later, now Peter Jackson has revealed the Tintin sequel's script has been written - since it's looking like we may have gone well over a decade without a movie directed by Peter Jackson by the time said sequel hits theaters.
With Jackson's work directing The Lord Of The Rings trilogy - and The Hobbit trilogy after it - being some genre-defining work for the realm of fantasy that has gone on to leave its mark on many movies since, seeing Peter Jackson once again captain the proverbial ship with another larger-than-life adaptation is a promising prospect to have on the horizon.
Why The Tintin Movie Sequel Is An Ideal Movie For Peter Jackson To Return With
Though Tintin's stories aren't quite as fantastical as the tales of Middle-Earth Peter Jackson most famously directed, they certainly do have some shared territory. The red-haired youth has been in storylines that make him one part Sherlock Holmes, one part explorer, and one part reporter, making his adventures larger-than-life in their own way, especially given Tintin generally remains a teenager or young adult at his absolute oldest.
This is evident in The Adventures of Tintin itself, which features a dramatic, Indiana Jones-esque story of Tintin, Snowy and Captain Haddock searching for the lost treasure of the 17th century ship the Unicorn.
With 2011's The Adventures of Tintin having been directed by Steven Spielberg, there's also a strikingly high bar to be met by a sequel project in many regards, which further means someone like Peter Jackson ideally needs to be in the saddle in order to give the project the awe-inspiring sense of scale and spectacle it would benefit most from.
