‘Please help us’: Savannah Guthrie issues new plea for help in mother’s kidnapping

Translate

Heartbroken “TODAY” co-host Savannah Guthrie on Sunday renewed her plea for information about the kidnapping of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, from her Tucson, Ariz. home nine months ago.

Guthrie posted an image on Instagram of a drawing by her young daughter that evoked her feelings about her elderly mother’s disappearance. The drawing shows a blue umbrella surrounded by raindrops, with a caption that reads: “I know it might not seem like it but I really need my mommy.”

Her child’s artwork “says so much about how I feel,” Guthrie wrote.

“For Annie and Tommy, for Cam and Kristine, for Mike and me and for all of mom’s beloved grandchildren: we ache for her, we cry out for answers, we cannot move forward,” Guthrie said in the post, naming members of her immediate family. “We need someone to help us, tell us what you know.”

Nancy Guthrie was reported missing from her Tucson home on Feb. 1.

Authorities have said the crime involved a ransom demand. The investigation by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, with assistance from the FBI, has not produced any significant breaks in the case.

A hair found in Nancy Guthrie’s home did not lead to a suspect after testing, investigators said in July.

A task force created to solve the crime is still chasing leads in an effort to find Nancy Guthrie and any suspect involved. The team “traveled to Florida to meet with lab scientists to see what more could be done to advance the case,” the sheriff’s office recently said on X.

Guthrie said her family has been changed forever by the tragedy. She called her mother “a light in this world” and begged for answers so her family can “celebrate her and give her the dignity she deserves.”

The morning show host noted that the reward for information is still available.
