Sir Dorabji Tata Trust gets time till October 19 to respond to complaints

MUMBAI: Sir Dorabji Tata Trust (SDTT) has been granted time until Oct 19 to file its response to complaints lodged by vice-chairmen Venu Srinivasan and Vijay Singh, who have alleged that the trust exceeded its charitable mandate by intervening in the commercial and strategic affairs of Tata Sons. The duo filed complaints with the Maharashtra Charity Commissioner on Sept 25, seeking interim orders barring the trust from holding board meetings, restraining it from exercising its voting rights at Tata Sons' annual general meeting (AGM), suspending or removing trustees, and preventing chairman Noel Tata from participating in Tata Sons board decisions as a nominee director. The Commissioner had directed SDTT to submit its response by Oct 12. SDTT was scheduled to file its reply on Monday but sought additional time from the commissioner. The regulator accepted the request and granted the trust a one-week extension, directing it to file its response by Oct 19.
