Woman found dead in Rizal apartment refrigerator

MANILA, Philippines — A woman was found dead in a refrigerator in an apartment in the town of Rodriguez, Rizal, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Friday.

The landlord of the apartment discovered the body on Wednesday morning, the PNP public information chief, Col. Allen Rae Co, said in a press briefing in Camp Crame.

Citing an autopsy report, Co said the victim may have been dead for six to seven days.

He noted that identification cards found in the apartment had yielded no results and were discovered to be fake.

Nonetheless, according to Co, the victim’s father positively identified the body.

“He was able to show us yung real IDs. So we were able to establish the actual identity of the victim. There is no question it was her,,” Co explained

But he declined to give the victim’s name.

The victim’s partner, with whom she had been renting the apartment, was identified as a person of interest (POI) in the crime.

Co also noted that the victim rented the apartment on Sept. 9 but was unreachable by Sept. 10.

Both the victim and the POI were facing serious illegal detention cases, but the PNP could not immediately provide further details on the prior incident.

The victim was released on bail, while the POI remained at large with a warrant of arrest, Co added.

Co explained that the father said his daughter had money. So, most probably, she and her partner fought over the money.

He added that the woman was strangled with a rope. The refrigerator was then put down horizontally and the body was put inside.

“We do not know the actual reason why. Maybe he was thinking it would to prolong the decomposition, giving him more time to escape,” Co added. /atm
