Kwara State Government has approved the 2026 bursary award for eligible indigenes of the state studying in tertiary institutions across the country, in a move aimed at easing the financial burden of higher education on students and their families.

The management of the Kwara State Scholarship Board, which announced the approval in a statement on Saturday, said Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq approved the intervention as part of his administration’s efforts to support students of Kwara origin.

“Application portal for the scheme will open on Monday, November 2, 2026, and close on Monday, November 16, 2026,” the approval noted.

The board urged eligible students to take advantage of the application window, directing them to visit the official portal at scholarship.kwarastate.gov.ng to complete and submit their applications.

It advised applicants to ensure that the information supplied during registration was accurate and verifiable.

The board further urged prospective beneficiaries to “adhere strictly to the application guidelines available on the portal” to avoid complications during the registration process.

The state Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development and Supervising Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Lawal Olohungbebe, commended the governor for approving the bursary.

Olohungbebe described the gesture as “a demonstration of his administration’s commitment to educational development and students’ welfare.”

He said the intervention would provide financial relief to parents and guardians while supporting students in their academic pursuits.

The commissioner also praised what he described as the governor’s sustained commitment to the education sector since assuming office.

He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to “expanding access to tertiary education and promoting the academic advancement and welfare of students of Kwara origin.”
