Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s brother and producer Pranay Reddy Vanga backed the romance drama ‘Romanchakam’, which received mixed-to-average reviews following its theatrical release on September 3.

While the makers have now shifted their focus to Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming action drama ‘Spirit’, starring Prabhas, Pranay has issued a challenge to the film’s reviewers.

Pranay Reddy Vanga challenges ‘Romanchakam’ reviewers

During a conversation with YouTube channel Tag Telugu, Pranay Reddy Vanga challenged reviewers to assess Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film ‘Spirit’ with the same approach they used for ‘Romanchakam’.With respect to the film reviews, Pranay said that reviewing movies may seem like an easy job because a large number of films that release theatrically do not succeed.

However, he stressed that people understand the challenges involved in filmmaking only after experiencing the production process themselves.“If you get into production, you understand how hard the director works to execute what’s written. The kind of problems that arise in production,” he said.Pranay also pointed out that reviews do not necessarily determine a film’s box-office performance. According to him, some films that receive negative reviews go on to perform well, while some highly praised films fail to connect with audiences.

Ultimately, he believes it is the audience that delivers the final verdict.

Pranay Reddy Vanga says reviewers “plucked feathers” from ‘Romanchakam’

Taking a more direct swipe at the reviewers of ‘Romanchakam’, Pranay said the film may have received heightened scrutiny because it was a smaller production. He compared the criticism to “plucking feathers” from a chicken egg before challenging reviewers to take the same approach with ‘Spirit’.“Idi chinna cinema kabatti deeni mida pedda, kodi guddu mida eekalu peekutunattu edo chestunaru.

Valu nizamga cheyyadalsukunte, Spirit vastundi kada, chuskundam. Spirit lo chuddam,” he said. The statement roughly translates to: “Because this is a small film, they are doing all this as if they are plucking feathers from a chicken egg. If they are really capable of doing it, ‘Spirit’ is coming, right? Let’s see. We’ll see it with ‘Spirit’.”When the host asked Pranay whether he was throwing down a challenge to the reviewers, he agreed and expressed confidence in ‘Spirit’.

About Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Spirit’

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, ‘Spirit’ is an upcoming cop action drama starring Prabhas in the lead role. The film’s audio teaser previously hinted at the actor’s character having “one bad habit.”The makers unveiled Prabhas’ first look from the film on New Year’s Day 2026, featuring the actor in an intense avatar with a wounded back. Triptii Dimri, who plays the female lead, was seen lighting his cigarette in the striking poster. The film also stars Vivek Oberoi and introduces Aishwarya Desai. ‘Spirit’ is scheduled to hit theatres on March 5, 2027.
