Trump to meet Gulf leaders for Iran war talks next week - report
US President Donald Trump is expected to meet with Gulf leaders in New York next week to discuss the next steps in the war with Iran, Axios reported on Wednesday, citing three sources with direct knowledge.
Trump is scheduled to meet with leaders or foreign ministers from the six Gulf Cooperation Council countries - Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman - on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday.
The talks are expected to focus on US proposals for a postwar strategy following the conflict with Iran, according to Axios.
Trump and his senior team are working on a "day-after" plan for the war, which is expected to be finalized after the upcoming US midterm elections, the report said.
The State Department sent initial invitations for the meeting on Wednesday, Axios added.
