Ex-PDP, ADC supporters target 100,000 votes for Tinubu, Yayi

Some former supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party and the African Democratic Congress in Ogun State, under the aegis of the Yayi Ni Wura Alliance Movement, have commenced mobilisation of supporters across the state for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.

The group, which comprises members drawn from different political backgrounds, including former supporters of the PDP and ADC, said it was targeting 100,000 votes for the All Progressives Congress in the state in the 2027 elections.

Speaking at a press conference held on Thursday at Iwe Iroyin, Abeokuta, Ogun State, the Director of Media and Publicity of the group, Wasiu Adejumo, popularly known as Westo, disclosed that members of the movement had previously belonged to different political parties before deciding to support Tinubu and Adeola.

He cited the political relevance of the APC governorship candidate and his developmental strides across the state despite representing Ogun West.

Adejumo said, “We were initially on the side of the opposition party. Some of us are from APC, some of us are from PDP, and some of us are from ADC.

“Because of the reason that we want to support Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, Yayi, in Ogun State, and we want to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, that is the reason why we decided to come together.

“Our target is to mobilise at least 100,000 votes to successfully ensure the re-election of President Bola Tinubu so that he can continue his good works and courageous reforms beyond 2027, while our hardworking senator, the APC governorship candidate, Sen Solomon Adeola, fondly called Yayi, is also elected as the next governor of Ogun State”

Also speaking, the state coordinator of YAM, Akeem Shodiya, maintained that the organisation was established to mobilise support for Tinubu, Adeola and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.

Shodiya asserted that the alliance would accommodate members of other political platforms willing to join its mobilisation structure.

He said, “We have made our decision. We have chosen our direction. We are open to all, and we want everyone to support this movement.”

He emphasised that the group’s mobilisation would be carried out across the state through grassroots engagement and community-based activities.

The group criticised opposition politicians, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, while presenting its support for Tinubu as its preferred political direction.

“We support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and we support all APC candidates in Ogun State, from Senator Yayi to Senator Shuaib Salisu, who is also seeking re-election for the Senate in Ogun Central. We support Olumide Osoba; we support all APC candidates across the state.

“Our 100,000-vote target represented the alliance’s mobilisation objective across Ogun State, and it is what we are all committed to achieving so that the progress and rapid development achieved in the last three and a half years under the APC administration can continue beyond 2027,”he said.
