RELATIONSHIP TIMELINE BETWEEN FAF DE KLERK AND WIFE MINE

Faf and Miné van Niekerk have built one of rugby’s most quietly enduring love stories, spanning long-distance years, international rugby moves, and now a growing family. The pair were introduced through mutual friends in 2015. Their connection reportedly deepened after Miné invited Faf to a friend’s wedding, giving the pair their first real opportunity to spend time together outside a group setting.

As their relationship grew, Faf’s rugby career took him overseas. This was first with English Premiership club Sale Sharks, where he played from 2017 to 2021. That stretch tested the couple, with Miné based in South Africa while Faf built his career abroad. Their relationship endured years of distance shaped around his demanding rugby schedule.

After years together, Faf proposed, and the couple became engaged on 19 May 2022. Just a few months later, Faf and Miné officially tied the knot on 1 October 2022, at the picturesque La Paris Estate in Franschhoek.

The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Remi-Ré, in 2024. Just a year later, in November 2025, the family grew again with the arrival of their second daughter, Yuke. The pair were parents of two under two.
