MELAKA, Oct 4  — Pakatan Harapan (PH) is open to seeking allies to form a stable government in Melaka in the upcoming state election, said Amanah secretary-general Muhammad Faiz Fadzil.

He said Amanah’s stand was that it was better for the coalition to find partners who could work together to form a stable state government.

Muhammad Faiz said a decision on possible cooperation was expected to be made soon but the possibility of PH contesting on its own remained open.

“Amanah believes that joining forces with allies who want to establish a stable government in Melaka would be better,” he told reporters after the LKIM chairman’s engagement session with Telok Mas fishermen at the Tanjong Nibong fishermen’s jetty here today.

Muhammad Faiz said any decision on political cooperation would be determined by the PH Presidential Council, but Amanah had been exploring collaboration with various parties.

In the 2021 state election, Barisan Nasional won 21 of the 28 seats contested, while PH took five and Perikatan Nasional two.

The Election Commission is meeting on Wednesday to set the dates for the state polls. — Bernama
