Translate

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 1,000 residents in the Titiwangsa parliamentary constituency received food baskets ahead of Deepavali, which falls on Nov 8.

Titiwangsa member of parliament Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani said the initiative was part of his regular efforts to spend time with and engage with the local community.

"It is my routine to visit the constituency every weekend. During this weekend's break, I distributed Deepavali food baskets to 1,000 recipients in the Titiwangsa parliamentary constituency," he said in a Facebook post today.

Also present at the event was Titiwangsa MIC division chief Arasu Palanysamy.

Johari said that despite differences in race, religion and culture, the spirit of a multicultural society and the celebration of diversity remained central to the country.
