Spanish side Getafe have made a formal offer to sign former Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho as the 26-year-old continues his search for a new club.

Sancho is currently a free agent after his contract expired in the summer, with several clubs reportedly exploring the possibility of signing the former England international.

As reported by BBC Sport on Thursday, however, an agreement with Getafe is understood to be complicated, although the La Liga side are keen to find a resolution and strengthen their squad.

Sancho is reportedly keen on a move away from England but remains open to all options as he considers the next step in his career.

The winger joined Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 for £73 million but struggled to establish himself consistently at Old Trafford, spending time on loan at Dortmund, Chelsea and Aston Villa.

Last season, Sancho made 39 appearances for Aston Villa as Unai Emery’s side enjoyed a successful campaign, including Europa League success and qualification for the Champions League. He also came on as a late substitute in Villa’s victory over Freiburg in the Europa League final, marking his third European final appearance in three seasons.

His loan move to Chelsea during the 2024-25 campaign included an obligation to buy. However, Chelsea reportedly paid a £5 million penalty to return him to Manchester United after he made 41 appearances for the London club.

Sancho has continued training while searching for his next destination, regularly sharing videos of his sessions on Instagram. He recently visited non-league side Flixton, prompting the club to clarify that he was not on trial with the North West Counties League outfit.

Getafe, who are currently 14th in La Liga and competing in the Europa Conference League this season, are looking to strengthen their options and could offer Sancho an opportunity to revive his career in Spanish football.

Earlier this week, the club also signed former Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal on a free transfer. The 34-year-old right-back, who won 27 trophies with Madrid, including six Champions League titles, has signed a contract running until June 2027.

Although Getafe have now reportedly made their move for Sancho, negotiations remain ongoing, and it is unclear whether both parties will reach an agreement.
