Coast Guard continues search for 8 missing Palawan ferry passengers
CALAPAN CITY— The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) continued its search and rescue operations on Saturday for the eight missing passengers of the ill-fated M/V June Aster in the waters and shoreline of Calanhayaun Island in Barangay Tara, Coron, Palawan.
Personnel from the Coast Guard District Palawan Disaster Response Group and Special Operations Group, along with the crew of BRP Suluan (MRRV-4406) and Marine Environmental Protection-Northeastern Palawan, conducted maritime and foot patrols and shoreline monitoring around the area where the vessel sank.
The PCG also deployed HSRB-011 and rubber boats for maritime patrol and search operations, while drones were used to conduct aerial surveillance of the coastline and nearby areas.

During coastal monitoring, the PCG reported that no visible oil sheen was observed in the area.

The agency said it would continue search and rescue and maritime response operations until the requirements of the ongoing search have been addressed.
