Bersatu man presses for party’s state No 2 as Kelebang candidate

Translate

Melaka Bersatu information chief Hishamuddin Abdul Karim has endorsed the party’s state deputy chief Mohamad Ali Mohamad to be fielded as the Bersatu candidate for Kelebang at the impending Melaka polls.

Hishamuddin said Mohamad was not only a local boy, but was politically experienced and had a good relationship with the grassroots in Kelebang. He added that Mohamad is also the Melaka Bersatu election director.

“His experience and the positions he has held should be considered by Bersatu’s political bureau when naming its candidate for Kelebang,” said Hishamuddin.

Mohamad, a former deputy president of the Dewan Negara, was previously with Umno before joining Bersatu in 2024. He contested the Sungai Udang seat for Barisan Nasional in the 2021 state election, but was defeated by Dr Aleef Yusof of Perikatan Nasional.

The Kelebang seat is a BN stronghold won by Pakatan Harapan in 2018 for a single term.

The Melaka polls will be held on Nov 14, with nominations on Oct 31.
