Angel Studios’ Membership Guild Hits 3 Million Mark, Doubling Its Year-Ago Level

Translate

Angel Studios says its membership program has surpassed 3 million paying members, doubling its level of a year ago.

The company, which went public last year, is known for releasing what it calls “values-based” films and TV series. It has promoted to Wall Street the unique role played by the Angel Guild membership plan, which not only provides a recurring revenue source but also creates essentially a giant-scale focus group. Projects are fostered by Guild members, who then weigh in at various stages of a project’s life cycle, reading scripts and viewing test screenings.

Angel burst onto the scene in 2023 when it released Sound of Freedom, an unheralded action movie about child trafficking that became a left-field blockbuster, grossing more than $250 million worldwide.

Neal Harmon, the company’s co-founder and CEO, told Deadline in June the Guild had reached 2.4 million members. At the time of that interview, Angel’s historical actioner Young Washington was having its world premiere at the Tribeca Festival. The film wound up grossing $47 million, spawning a sequel.

Angel’s theatrical slate continues with Runner, an action thriller starring Owen Wilson and Alan Ritchson, with upcoming theatrical releases also including Angel and the Badman, Drummer Boy, Hershey and Zero A.D. On the series front, the company plans new seasons of The Wingfeather Saga, Homestead and Testament.

While Angel shares are well below their price at the IPO in September 2025, they have risen more than 20% over the past week, to about $5.50.

In a statement, Harmon called the 3 million member mark “an important early milestone” for the Provo, UT-based company. “Growth like this tells us audiences want something different,” he added. “They want great entertainment, they want a voice in what gets made, and they want Angel’s tech and marketing engine to spread the stories they choose to audiences everywhere.”
