‘Halloween’ Star Danielle Harris Opens Up About Her Career and Personal Trauma in New Feature Documentary (Exclusive)
As a young actress, Danielle Harris was chased by Michael Myers. Offscreen, she struggled with her own share of personal trauma. Now, she’s bringing her story to audiences in a new documentary about her life and career.
Harris grew up onscreen in a career spanning five decades. She made her film debut at age 11 as the daughter of Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) and reprised that role for Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989).
Some of her other film credits include The Last Boy Scout, Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead, Free Willy, Daylight andRob Zombie’s Halloween (2007) and Halloween II (2009).On TV, she’s appeared on Roseanne, The Wild Thornberrys, Charmed and Boy Meets World. She made her feature directorial debut with Among Friends (2012).
Amid her success onscreen, she faced personal challenges, including her father’s death in an unsolved car accident, the suicides of a famous partner and a close friend, a stalker who tracked her for two decades and a pregnancy complication that stopped her heart.
Now, Harris is telling her story in a new feature-length documentary that was filmed over the past three years. The filmmakers draw on never-before-seen archival footage, private home video and interviews with Harris, her family and friends and colleagues from her five decades in film. Some of her closest friends and family have not heard all the details of what Harris has been through. The documentary opens at her home and follows her onto sets in Los Angeles and at fan conventions across the country.
The documentary, which hails from Deranged Minds Entertainment, is directed by Destinie Orndoff and Tristan Clay, both of whom also produce alongside Hayden Todd Wilberger and Jordan Wyant.
“People think they know Danielle because they grew up watching her,” Orndoff said. “They’ve seen the performances. They’ve never seen what it cost her, and Danielle didn’t hold anything back.”
Added Clay: “In the three years of filming, I had the honor of getting to know the woman off the screen. I can’t wait for audiences to see this side of her.”
The film is in postproduction, with a festival run planned for 2027.
