OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has been ruled out of Sunday night's game at the Atlanta Falcons with a left ankle injury, coach Jesse Minter announced Friday.

Jackson will miss his first game of the season after not practicing all week. The Ravens will start backup quarterback Tyler Huntley, who was 2-0 as fill-in starter last season.

"We have a ton of confidence in [Huntley] to play really well," Minter said. "I think everyone on the team is excited to see that."

Jackson injured his ankle during Sunday's 24-18 win over the Tennessee Titans. He didn't play in the second half and left M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday night wearing a protective boot on his left foot.

With Jackson as their starting quarterback, the Ravens are 79-32 (.712), averaging 28.4 points per game. Without Jackson since the start of the 2019 season, Baltimore is 6-11 (.353) with its average points per game dropping to 17.6.

Minter had said earlier this week that he didn't view Jackson's injury as "crazy long term, but we'll see what happens."

The Ravens are looking to improve to 4-1 for the first time since 2021.
