BREAKING: Three arrested over Dawn Park woman’s murder

Police have arrested three suspects over the murder of the ninth woman found dead in Ekurhuleni, whose body was discovered in Dawn Park, Boksburg.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) confirmed on Monday morning that the Gauteng Murder and Robbery Unit arrested one man and two women over the weekend.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 21 September 2026.

Ninth victim found in Dawn Park

Her body was found in Dawn Park, Boksburg, on Thursday, 17 September. At the time, Gauteng police said preliminary investigations suggested the woman had been killed elsewhere before her body was dumped in the area.

National police spokesperson, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe made it clear that the latest arrests relate specifically to the Dawn Park case. Police have not said that the three suspects are linked to the murders of the other eight women.

SAPS has assigned a multidisciplinary team of investigators and specialists to the cases as authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding each woman’s death and identify those responsible.

Police pursuing all nine cases

Acting National Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Puleng Dimpane said investigators were giving all nine murder cases priority attention.

“We remain committed to ensuring that these investigations are pursued with the urgency and determination they require,” Dimpane said.

“Our investigators are following all available leads and are working tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.”

Police have intensified investigations following growing concern over the deaths of women across Ekurhuleni.

Authorities have also deployed additional officers to affected areas to increase patrols and police visibility.

The arrests come after Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia confirmed on Sunday that investigators had also questioned three persons of interest in connection with an earlier murder under investigation.

Police have repeatedly cautioned against assuming that all nine cases are linked while investigators continue analysing the evidence.

Suspects head to court

SAPS said further details surrounding the Dawn Park murder and the alleged involvement of the three suspects are expected to emerge during their court appearance on Monday.
