Jakarta (ANTARA) - Bank Indonesia (BI) reported that business matching transactions for Islamic financing and trade reached nearly Rp3.16 trillion (approximately US$175.35 million) during the Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF) 2026.

The number comprise Rp2.6 trillion (US$144.28 million) in Sharia - compliant financing agreements and Rp558.4 billion (US$30.98 million) in trade commitments.

In addition, the central bank’s flagship annual event, held from October 14 to 18, booked Rp13.85 billion (US$768,547) in retail sales of halal food and modest fashion, alongside Rp6.05 trillion (US$335.72 million) in transaction commitments across the Islamic money and foreign exchange markets.

"These achievements reflect robust market engagement. Moving forward, the critical priority is ensuring that these outcomes deliver tangible benefits to the national economy and public welfare," BI Deputy Governor Solikin M. Juhro said in a statement released here on Monday.

Solikin emphasized that the development of the Islamic economy must be directed toward fostering inclusive prosperity. Economic growth, he noted, should be measured not merely by the gross volume of business transactions, but by how broadly the public participates in and benefits from them.

To achieve this, he underscored the need to channel Islamic financing directly into productive economic sectors, while mobilizing Islamic social finance — such as zakat (almsgiving) and waqf (charitable endowments) — to drive sustainable community empowerment.

Solikin outlined three strategic pillars to strengthen Indonesia's Islamic economic and financial architecture: integrating the halal value chain from upstream to downstream; expanding Sharia financing through product innovation and the convergence of commercial and social finance; and accelerating financial literacy and inclusion through digital transformation.

"Our future success will not be measured solely by the number of programs we implement, but by the tangible changes we deliver to business resilience and community welfare," Solikin stated.

According to central bank data, ISEF 2026 drew approximately 93,000 visitors, while its public outreach reached 26.5 million people across digital platforms and mass media.

The festival engaged more than 1,000 halal industry stakeholders, including micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), Islamic financial institutions, creative sector entrepreneurs, and both domestic and international investors.

Organized under the theme "Accelerating Sustainable Islamic Economic and Financial Growth through Synergy and Digital Transformation," ISEF 2026 featured over 100 hybrid activities focused on strengthening the halal ecosystem, promoting Islamic economic concepts, and empowering youth and women entrepreneurs.
