Ex-Black Stars Coach Otto Addo Drags Ghana FA To FIFA Over Unpaid Wages, Bonuses
Former Black Stars coach Otto Addo has taken the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to FIFA over outstanding financial obligations following the termination of his contract in March 2026.
Addo is reportedly seeking more than $750,000 in unpaid salaries, bonuses and other contractual entitlements after failing to secure payment from the association following his departure.
According to Joy Sports’ Muftawu Nabila Abdulai (via Ghana Soccernet) the former Ghana coach is claiming approximately 15 months of unpaid wages, alongside other benefits stipulated in his contract.
The development follows the GFA’s decision to end Addo’s second spell in charge of the Black Stars after a disappointing international window in March.
The association announced his immediate departure on March 31, 2026, following heavy defeats to Austria and Germany in consecutive friendly matches.

Ghana suffered a 5-1 loss to Austria in Vienna before falling 2-1 to Germany in Stuttgart, extending their losing streak to four matches.
Addo’s dismissal came just 72 days before the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Ghana were preparing to compete against England and other opponents in the group stage.
The 50-year-old had returned for a second stint in March 2024 after previously managing the national team between 2022 and 2023.
His reported financial claim includes salary arrears, with Addo understood to have earned $50,000 monthly under his agreement with the GFA. Fifteen months of unpaid wages would amount to $750,000, excluding bonuses and other contractual benefits.
