Tom Cruise enjoys red carpet reunion with Prince William and Kate Middleton at Digger premiere

Hollywood star Tom Cruise was all smiles on Tuesday evening as he walked the red carpet alongside Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The Mission Impossible actor was joined by the couple for the Royal Film Performance of his new film Digger at the Odeon Luxe in London's Leicester Square.

Mother-of-three Kate looked radiant as she arrived at the event dressed in a floaty, full-length purple Jenny Packham dress that featured billowing sheer sleeves and a deep V neckline.

The future Queen accessorised with some of the Royal Family's jewels as she modelled the Queen Mother's amethyst sauron necklace, and wore a pair of elegant pearl earrings that belonged to the late Princess Diana. Kate finished her look with a black clutch bag as she grinned from ear to ear for the cameras.

William looked suave in a black velvet tuxedo, complete with a smart white shirt and bow tie as he walked beside his wife, before posing for photos with Tom.

At one point, the Eyes Wide Shut star was seen holding hands with Kate as he helped her walk down the steps to the cinema.

The trio appeared happy and relaxed as they engaged in conversation, and were also joined by filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu, who wrote and directed the new film.

Digger is a satirical black comedy that tells the story of wealthy oil tycoon, Digger Rockwell, as he races to prove he is humanity's saviour before the disaster he unleashed destroys everything.

The film also stars Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Jesse Plemons, Michael Stuhlbarg and Emma D'Arcy.

Tom recently broke his silence on the fan theory that Digger is actually a musical, after writer Jason Pargin made a comment about the secret being "desperately" kept under wraps during its promotion.

The theory gained huge traction online and Tom was asked to address the speculation during an appearance on The Tonight Show.

"I don't know if you saw these rumours on the internet. I just want to show them to you. You don't have to react, you can if you want to," host Jimmy Fallon said, sharing some article headlines, including a report from Digital Spy.

Denying the rumour, Tom said: "No, but I think it's a very good idea. I think we should do Digger: The Musical. Just Digger down," he said, before showing off his dance moves.

Digger arrives in cinemas on 2 October.
