Cheong Min on track for Asian Games medal after strong opener
NAGOYA: Wushu exponent Tan Cheong Min is on track to finish on the podium in the women's nanquan-nandao event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Tuesday.
Cheong Min scored 9.726 in the nanquan discipline to put herself in second position overall behind China's Zhang Yaling (9.783) at the Aichi Prefectural Martial Arts Hall.
Iran's Mina Panahi Dorcheh is, however, a close third on 9.716.
Cheong Min is gunning for a career second Asian Games medal after winning silver in the same event at the Hangzhou edition.
The nandao discipline will be held on Tuesday afternoon. Winners will be decided after combining scores from both nanquan and nandao disciplines.
