AFCONQ 2027: ‘I Still Feel Weak’ –Arokodare Casts Doubt on Fitness

Translate

Super Eagles forward Tolu Arokodare has disclosed that he is not yet at 100% fitness as he links up with the national team ahead of their crucial upcoming fixtures against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The towering striker, who has been dealing with the lingering physical effects of a recent bout of fever, revealed that while he is eager to contribute to the squad, he is still working hard to regain his peak condition and match sharpness.

Current Physical State

Speaking on his current physical state, Arokodare in a chat with AjaxLife, noted that the transition back to full training has been demanding.

“You could see after five or six minutes that I was hunched over because I was tired. I needed this match to realize that I am not yet 100 percent fit. I still feel weak,” he said as per AjaxLife.

“I haven’t recovered as much as I thought. I wanted to start, but I don’t think I could have. We had a tactical training session in the morning and my legs were weak. I was dead after five or six minutes into the match.

“I am happy that I was able to come on, though. Hopefully, I will recover fully during the international break,” he said.

His candid assessment comes as a minor concern for the Super Eagles coaching staff, who are carefully managing player workloads ahead of the intense double-header.

With critical points on the line in the qualifiers, whether Arokodare will be deemed fit enough to lead the line or if he will be managed from the bench remains one of the major tactical decisions for the technical crew.
