Durban gets a newly revamped swimming pool ahead of summer

Translate

Residents in Umlazi in Durban have a refurbished public swimming pool and new sports facilities to make use of, following the official reopening of the Umlazi BB Swimming Pool on 16 October.

The reopening was led by Chairperson of Community Services Cllr Zama Sokhabase, alongside Ward 84 Councillor Msizi Mabaso, who also handed over newly completed combi courts within the swimming pool precinct.

The courts are designed to accommodate several sporting codes, including basketball, tennis, netball and indoor soccer.

The new courts are part of efforts to create more accessible recreational spaces where Durban residents can exercise and participate in organised sport.

The municipality says the facilities are intended to encourage healthier lifestyles while providing opportunities for sporting development, particularly among young people.

The upgraded precinct is expected to give residents more options for staying active, while also creating space for young athletes to develop their skills.

The refurbishment and new courts form part of the municipality’s commitment to improving community recreational facilities across the city.
