Danny K working on new music after wife’s shock death

Danny K – fullname Daniel Koppel – has hinted he may be working on new music after the shock death of his wife, Lisa Koppel, in August.

The R&B singer lost his spouse – the mother of his three children – after her private battle with colorectal cancer.

The entertainer and model-turned-lawyer couple wed in 2012.

DANNY K TEASES NEW MUSIC

On his Instagram Story, Danny D revealed that he had been in the studio, fuelling rumours he was working on new music.

The 49-year-old posted a picture of studio equipment, as well as a piano.

It comes almost two months after the death of his wife, Lisa Koppel

The R&B singer revealed that his 41-year-old spouse had endured a private battle with colorectal cancer over the last three years.

He shared: “She fought with extraordinary strength and determination. Together with our family, we searched for hope in South Africa and around the world, pursuing every treatment and every opportunity available to us. Tragically, despite everything, we could not save her.

Danny shared that Lisa chose to keep her illness private as “she never wanted pity, attention or sympathy”

FUELLED BY GRIEF

It wouldn’t be the first piece of music Danny K has written fuelled by grief.

A few months after his younger brother Jarren’s death in 2003, in a helicopter crash,  Dany released the tribute track I Can’t Imagine. 

He also named his second alnum J23, in memory of his 23-year-old sibling.

Danny K has said of the music offering: “I wrote this song from a place of incredible pain and sadness. It was intensely personal and an unlikely radio hit, but it became an anthem for anyone suffering loss and grief”.

In 2024, Danny K revealed he was ready to make a musical comeback.

The star last released a single in 2018 and a full-length album in 2013.

He said at the time:: “A lot of people have been asking for new music. It’s taken me a long time. But I started getting that itch and felt like I needed to put something out.
