Puffer fish worth P52,500 seized in Albay
NAGA CITY — Police arrested two men and seized about 350 kilos of dried puffer fish, locally known as “tikong,” worth P52,500 in Pioduran town, Albay, on Sunday.
Col. Noel Nuñez, Albay police provincial director, said police arrested the two around 5:30 a.m. at the Pioduran port in Barangay 4 based on information from a concerned citizen.
Nuñez said the suspects were found in possession of the dried puffer fish without a local transport permit issued by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).

The suspects face charges for violating Section 125 of Republic Act No. 10654, or the Philippine Fisheries Code, and Fisheries Administrative Order No. 249, which prohibits the sale and distribution of raw, fresh, and processed puffer fish.
Nuñez said the suspects were taken to the Pioduran Port Security Office along with the confiscated items for proper disposition./coa
