CAIRO, Nov 4 (MENA) – Egypt and the US signed first-ever bilateral Strategic Objective Agreement, on Wednesday, to expand economic cooperation in energy, water management, infrastructure, technology and other development sectors.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty attended the signing ceremony alongside the ministers of finance, supply and internal trade, and higher education and scientific research.

The Strategic Objectives Framework Agreement was signed by Deputy Foreign Minister for International Cooperation Samar al-Ahdal and US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Robert Silverman.

The agreement commits $125 million in US funding to expand opportunities for American companies in Egypt and drive private-sector growth in both countries.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Nader Zaki said that the agreement aims to support economic growth, create jobs and improve public services in Egypt through cooperation with the United States.

It includes the use of American technology to develop water and energy systems, infrastructure, education, healthcare and government services.

The agreement also covers cooperation in artificial intelligence and food security, including the use of modern agricultural methods to improve food production. (MENA)
