A light aircraft plunged into a field north of Perth on Saturday, with the two men on board surviving the crash with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the pilot of the single-engine aircraft crashed near the Greenside private airfield, off Brand Highway in Muchea, north-east of Perth, this morning.

Emergency services responded to the incident, during which the aircraft sustained "significant damage", police said.

A man in his 60s and another man in his 30s were on board the aircraft and were treated at the scene.

They were both transported to Royal Perth Hospital at priority one, and St John Ambulance said the two men are believed to have non-life-threatening injuries.

The Greenside Recreational Flyers Club, one of the state's largest, operates at the airfield, according to its website.

The aircraft crashed around 250 metres from the airfield's runway. Its fuselage, wings and tail were badly damaged.
