KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 — The Harimau Malaya squad has climbed three rungs to break into the 133rd spot in the world rankings following the latest update by the International Federation of Association Football (Fifa).

This surge is the result of Malaysia’s strong performance during the recent Fifa Asean Cup, where they secured three victories against Bangladesh (3–0), Singapore (6–0), and Vietnam (1–0), alongside a scoreless draw against Indonesia.

This improvement brings Malaysia up from their previous position of 136th on July 20.

At the global level, the top three spots remain unchanged, with Spain leading in first place, followed by Argentina and France.

Meanwhile, within South-east Asia, Thailand maintains its position as the top-ranked regional team at 93rd (up one spot), followed by Vietnam (99th) and Indonesia (116th).

The next official Fifa ranking update is scheduled for November 18. — Bernama
