Meta Hires Rich Latour to Lead In-House Content Studio (Exclusive)

Translate

Meta has hired a TV veteran to lead its in-house content studio.

The tech giant and owner of Instagram and Facebook has brought on Rich Latour to be VP of content studio, running its social and content teams within the company’s communications and public affairs division.

Latour will report to Tucker Bounds, the company’s head of communications and public affairs, and will be responsible for developing and executing Meta’s content strategy.

That will include brand storytelling, focused on the Meta brand and the impact it has on communities; executive social, amplifying brand-level messages through the voices of the company’s top execs; product content support, with a particular emphasis on social; and international social content.

Latour joins Meta from BlackRock, where he was managing director, global head of content, creative and events, where he led the investment firm’s global content strategy. Before BlackRock he worked at Goldman Sachs as its VP of digital content. He spent nearly two decades at NBC News, much of it as a producer and senior producer at NBC Nightly News, where he received 4 Emmy Awards and 2 Edward R. Murrow Awards.

While Meta’s revenues and profits are still focused within products like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, Latour joins the as the tech giant is leaning into AI via its Muse agent, and into virtual and augmented reality via its glasses and headsets.

While the content studio is outward-facing (it’s about telling Meta’s story), content is poised to become a bigger part of the company’s portfolio.
