EPL Roundup: Saka seals Arsenal’s victory, Aina wins, Iwobi, Bassey grab first point

Bukayo Saka scored a late penalty as Arsenal maintained their perfect start to the Premier League season with a 2-0 victory over Sunderland on Saturday.

Bruno Guimaraes opened the scoring in the 55th minute with a stunning strike after David Raya had earlier saved Enzo Le Fee’s penalty.

Saka then sealed Arsenal’s fourth win in four matches from the spot in stoppage time after Sunderland’s Reinildo was sent off for bringing down the Arsenal forward in the box.

The result keeps Mikel Arteta’s side top of the table with 12 points.

Aina helps Forest secure first win

Nigeria international Ola Aina played the full match as Nottingham Forest secured their first league victory of the season with a 2-1 win over Aston Villa.

Liam Delap put Forest ahead before Alysson equalised for Villa. Igor Jesus restored Forest’s lead late in the second half to give Oliver Glasner his first Premier League win as Forest manager.

Iwobi, Bassey earn first point

Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey featured as Fulham held Liverpool to a goalless draw at Anfield to claim their first point of the season.

Fulham, who had lost their opening three matches, frustrated the hosts and had opportunities to snatch all three points.

Liverpool struggled to create clear chances despite dominating possession, leaving manager Alvaro Arbeloa with his first Premier League point since taking charge.

Ajayi helps Hull hold Chelsea

Semi Ajayi played for 90 minutes as newly promoted Hull City continued their impressive start with a 2-2 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Morgan Rogers gave Chelsea an early lead before Mohamed Belloumi scored twice to put Hull ahead.

Joao Pedro equalised for Chelsea after the break, but Hull held on for a point to remain unbeaten and continue their strong return to the top flight.

Other matches

Elsewhere, Crystal Palace’s poor start to the campaign continued with a 3-2 home defeat to Ipswich.

Brentford, however, remained unbeaten thanks to Kevin Schade’s double in a 2-2 draw at Bournemouth.

The Cherries, by contrast, are yet to win in the Premier League under Marco Rose despite leading in all four games.

Tottenham’s hope of kick-starting their league season with a first goal and a win at home to Everton was dashed as they were forced to a barren draw by the visitors.

Action will continue in the Premier League tomorrow as fans across the world will watch Manchester United host local rivals City in the pick of Sunday’s action.
