Arsenal star told what he must do to earn Mikel Arteta trust after disappointing performance

Last summer’s big-money signing from Crystal Palace has struggled to nail down a starting berth since his arrival at the Emirates Stadium.

He was handed a rare start from the off at Nottingham Forest on Sunday, but he was hooked at half time after a poor showing at the City Ground.

Frustrated: Eberechi Eze

"It's very tough,” Wright said on Sky Sports.

“Madueke has that pace, but Eze is more of a moments player, more infield. At the moment it's tough for him to get in the team in field.

"It's the lefthand side for him. He needs people around him when he has the ball. Taking someone on isn't his main skill. In the middle of the pitch he can go left or right. But he's a bit isolated.

"I'd have a go [if I was Eze]. Whatever happens, he's not going to be one of the first teamers - he'll come in and out of the team like [Viktor] Gyokeres and Madueke.

"So he'll have to take an opportunity and do what he does. The way it went in the first half I thought he'd take him off."

Eze has played nine games in all competitions so far this term, but has scored and assisted just once.

It remains unlikly that he wil start for the Gunners in their Champions League clash with Bayern Munich next week, as last year’s finalists look to go one better this time around.
