President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Thursday announced that the toll at the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) C5 Northlink Segment 8.2 Section 1A, which connects Quezon City and Valenzuela City, will be waived until the end of the year.
Marcos said this at the inauguration of the two-kilometer segment of NLEX-C5 Northlink, which specifically links Mindanao Avenue and Quirino Highway.
"Libre ang pagdaan dito ngayon until end of the year," the President said.
(The passage here is free now until the end of the year.)
Marcos said the opening of the Segment 8.2 Section 1A was done in time for the Undas exodus to alleviate the traffic for motorists and passengers.
Pagbukas nito, 5 minuto na lang," he said.
(Even though it's short—just two kilometers—it makes a huge difference, because the current route is very long. You have to go around and pass the surface road, where you encounter traffic, so it probably takes 40 to 45 minutes right now. Once this opens, it will only take 5 minutes.)
The President also said the MVP Group, in coordination with SM Group, will be investing P120 billion for a project to connect Balintawak to Bocaue, Bulacan.
(They will construct an elevated road from Balintawak to Bocaue. This is a major development because it will be built above the existing highway. They are going to put up an elevated structure there.)
(The travel experience of our commuters will be completely different once that is completed. It is a massive investment by the MVP Group, in collaboration with the SM Group, as they need to coordinate with each other.)
