MANILA, Philippines — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Tuesday released new mugshots of former House Speaker and incumbent Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez.

Romualdez was transferred to the New Quezon City Jail in Payatas on Monday night upon an order by the Sandiganbayan Third Division.

This followed a week of his confinement at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City, then at the Philippine General Hospital in Manila.

The Philippine National Police–Criminal Investigation and Detection Group National Capital Region (PNP–CIDG NCR) arrested Romualdez last Sept. 7.

Citing his condition, the CIDG-NCR subjected Romualdez to booking procedures and took his first mugshot while he was on his hospital bed.

Romualdez faces a plunder case before the anti-graft court over alleged kickbacks worth over P7 billion through various government projects from 2022 to 2025. /gsg
